NYG Football: Lagos Girls In Final, Boys Land In Semi Final

Team Lagos have qualified for the final and semi-finals of the 7th National Youth Games football events in Asaba, Delta State in both the women’s and men’s categories. 

 Both teams defeated their opponents 2-0 in games at played on Tuesday. 

 The girls led the way to victory with Peace Effiong scoring a goal in each half to help her team beat Cross River State while Fawas Salami did the same for the boys in the quarterfinals against Enugu State. 

Effiong Peace gave kudos to her teammates for their contribution to the two goals against Cross River.

She said: “If not for the help of my teammates l wouldn’t be able to score the two goals. We are going for the gold, that’s our aim”. We will double our efforts because more goals need to be score in the final,” said Effiong.

They will meet their counterparts from the South-West region Ogun State in the final.

 The boys reached this stage by defeating Enugu State 2-1 in their final round of the group and today they proved that their previous win was no fluke by scoring two goals and conceding none.
