The Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, has assured Kogi State University (KOSU) Kabba, of the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to partner with the higher institution.
Ambassador Enikanolaye gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to his office by a delegation of KOSU’s management, led by the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Professor K.I.T Eniola, on Thursday, 17 September 2026.
The Honourable Minister of State lauded the progress so far recorded by the university. He noted opportunities for research collaboration, student exchanges and other partnerships with foreign universities, which he affirmed the Ministry could assist in facilitating.
Ambassador Enikanolaye urged the University and its host community to explore the opportunities in ECOWAS programmes and activities, including the ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS).
He added that making foreign policy deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians remained the hallmark of the 4Ds (Demography, Democracy, Development and Diaspora) foreign policy priorities of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration.
In this regard, Ambassador Enikanolaiye assured the Vice Chancellor and his team that the Ministry would partner with them to establish an ECOWAS Club in KOSU, as part of ongoing efforts to address the awareness gap on ECOWAS programmes and activities in Nigeria.
He disclosed that the initiative would be replicated in some other universities across the country.
Professor Eniola, in his remarks, appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, profoundly for the NELFUND programme, which he said had led to a very significant improvement in student enrolment and retention in KOSU.
He thanked Ambassador Enikanolaiye for his unwavering support for KOSU since it was founded in 2023, including through the Ambassador Enikanolaiye Award for Academic Excellence. He briefed the Minister on the milestones achieved by the university since it was established and shared the institution’s aspirations with him.
The engagement reinforced the Ministry’s commitment to fostering partnerships that translate the gains of foreign policy into concrete outcomes for Nigerians.
