Chairman Badagry Divisional Football Association, BDFA, Dr Martins Osondu has appealed to Chairman Lagos State Football Association Electoral Committee led by Alhaji Azeez Tijani to do away with sentiment and favouritism and conduct other elections into the remaining local councils in the state.
The elections into 20 local councils were conducted last Monday but was marred by irregularities and forced the electoral commiittee to put the elections on hold.
The electoral commiittee were able to conduct elections successfully in some local councils such as Shomolu, Agege, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos Island and Oshodi-Isolo council before the elections was called off by the committee.
Osondu, one of the elections observers told our correspondent that what happened in the last Lagos football council poll was a show of shame and urged the electoral committee to wake up from their slumber and conduct free and fair elections in the forthcoming rescheduled elections.
“I am using this medium to appeal to electoral committee to correct the irregularities that occurred in the last elections before the rescheduled elections. Let there be transparency in the next elections. I have confidence in Alhaji Azeez Tijani committee, and I expect them to come out with clear rules and regulations which binds the delegates and candidates together.
“Let the candidates know their delegates before the elections. The delegates who are coming to elections should be the people who are in football circle and should be known in their various communities. If the electoral committee are transparent enough, the better for the committee,” he said
