A Lagos base NLO team, Lekki United Football Club are not coming to participate in Lagos State Challenge Cup popularly known as Lagos FA Cup but to shock big teams and achieve its set target.
This was the submission of team manager of Lekki United,Ibukun Aluko while speaking with journalists after the Lagos FA Cup draws held on Wednesday.
Aluko said Lekki United have started early preparation and he is convinced that the club would go places in this year’s Lagos FA Cup.
“We are aware of the challenges ahead of us but the players are steadfast and focused to go places. We have played some friendlies and the team have done well in their performance.
“My expectation is to see Lekki United reach the semi final or possibly play in the final and all hands must be on deck if we want to achieve this target,”he said.
Aluko however called on the organisers to secure sponsorship for this year’s edition saying that Lagos FA Cup has come of age and it should be sponsored by corporate bodies and sport philanthropists considering the number of registered clubs.
A total of 80 teams have registered for this year’s edition and 32 rookie teams would slug it out in the first round scheduled to commence on 22, January,2025 at designated centres in the state.
