Chairman of Lagos Divisional Football Association, Bode Babington, has finally secured Mobolaji Johnson Arena popularly known as Onikan Stadium to host some matches when Lagos Divisional League kicks off on 24 April 2014.
Sixteen teams are expected to take part in the league which is being organised by Lagos Divisional Football Association.
Although the league would also be played in NPA football pitch, Surulere but the opening match have scheduled for Onikan Stadium.
The official match would be played between Team 360 and GSC by 1pm, while Royalty FC tackle Horobo FC by 3pm in the second match of the day.
Speaking on the league, Babington revealed that his administration is committed to make the league competitive and better organised in terms of match venues, officiating and coordinating aspect of the league.
He said the era of using substandard venues is gone saying that many matches would be played at the Onikan Stadium.
“I am happy that we have secured Onikan Stadium for our league matches and it is good for all the teams. We want to do away with substandard football pitches and we are also working to get sponsor before the end of the league,” he said.
