Chairman Chekas United Football Club, Chekwube Uzoegbo has admitted that their defeat against Hephzibah Sports Club in Nationwide League One, NLO playoff at Alade center in Lagos was a will of God.
Hephzibah boys defeated Chekas United 1-0 recently in the playoff to emerge as champions of Alade Center.
Hephzibah Sports Club have qualified to meet another champions in another center to determine their final playoff.
Addressing the players after the disappointing outing, Uzoegbo commended the doggedness and fighting spirit of his players in the encounter and praised them for their superlative performance despite the narrow defeat.
“I am proud of you despite your narrow defeat.You are worthy to be celebrated.You gave everything to win the game but it was a Will of God to end in this way.I will continue to encourage you and put the match behind you and look the bigger picture in front of you.
“You have done your best and like I said before it was a Will of God to end in this way.Once again I thank you guys for the job well done and I also commend our fans, media for their support throughout our league campaigns,”he said.
Uzoegbo however expressed satisfaction with the officiating and congratulated their opponents for the hard fought victory.He said both teams are champions in their group unfortunately, Hephzibah boys emerged as champions in the center.
Two groups were drawn at Alade center as winner in each group played the final play off to determine the champions of the center.
