Sponsor of the Madojiemu U-15 School Athletics Tourney, Princess Mabel Madojiemu has welcomed athletes, officials and other invited Athletics stakeholders to Edo for the much anticipated championship which begins on Thursday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin ,Edo, State.
In her message to the athletes and other officials, the titled sponsor first and foremost thanked the organising commiittee, Edo State Sports Commission and Edo State Athletic Association for their efforts in the last few weeks to make this year’s a reality.
She said the event has received wide publicity and media attention and commeded the organisers dor the job well done.
She admonished the athletes to see the tourney not a do or die affairs rather an event where talents would be discovered, records would be broken and new records would be set.
She furthered said the championship is an avenue to discover young talents that would represent their states and country in the future competitions such as national sports festival, Africa Games, Olympic Games and other international athletic championships.
“I am using this medium to welcome our athletes and officials within and outside the state to this laudable event.I am particularly very grateful to Almighty God for making this championship come as reality.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank our other sponsors, Edo State Sports Commission and Edo State Athletic Association for working round the clock to ensure that this event see the light of the day despite economic and security challenges we are facing in this country.
“Presently our athletes and officials within and outside the state would start coming as from tomorrow and i wish all our athletes safe journey to Benin and all the best in their outings.I also wish them successful stay in Benin.Once again i welcome you all and wish you safe journey back to your respective states,”she concluded.
Meanwhile the championship would kick off on Thursday morning.Events of 100m, 200m, 400m and other track and field events would be kneely contested among the participants while elite athletes would also involve in track and field events to spice the championship.
