NPFL side, Ikorodu City Football Club on Sunday evening emerged as Champions of 2026 Lagos State Challenge Cup known as Lagos FA Cup.
A goal from Tosin Oyedokun in the middle of second half was Ikorodu City boys needed to defeat G12 Football Club 1-0 at the Lagos FA Cup final held at Onikan Stadium.
Both teams played good football as many scoring chances were missed before Oyedokun struck in the second half to earn a victory for a premier club.
Reacting to the victory, Ikorodu City Coach, Bright Ozebagbe expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance noted that the victory was well deserved.
“It was a tough game for us.The two teams played well but we were better technically and deserved the victory.All the matches we played before the final were tough and I thank God that my team emerged as Lagos champions,”he said.
While G12 Coach, Olusanjo Olutayo was disappointed with his team’s performance and frowned over the officiating.He noted that his boys gave their best but insisted that the officiating was not fair to them.
In the female category,FC Robo Queens defeated Ghetto Tigers 4-0 to emerge as champions.Both finalists in each category would represent the State at the national federation cup which begins Wednesday across various centres in the country.
