Agege Stadium, Other Sports Facilities Will Be Completed Before Next Season – Sanwo-Olu’s Aide

There are strong indications that Agege Stadium and other sports facilities in Lagos will be completed, commissioned and ready for use by the next league season.

This was disclosed by Senior Special Assistant on Sports to the Governor of Lagos State, Damilare Orimoloye, while addressing journalists at the just concluded Lagos FA Cup finals held on Sunday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena popularly known as Onikan Stadium.

Orimoloye who represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu at the Lagos FA Cup finals said the government is committed to sports development in the state and boasted that all the sport facilities in Lagos are almost completed for the use.

Asked if Agege stadium would be ready by next month despite the number of clubs in the state, Orimoloye assured that Agege stadium,Teslim Balogun Stadium,Ifako-Ijaiye sports centres and others facilities would be ready before the kick off of 2026/27 league season.

“We are aware of the challenges our clubs are facing especially NNL and NLO clubs in terms of availability of sport facilities in the state,The government is working tirelessly to ensure that all the sport facilities are ready before the next league.

“The government is not folding its hands rather they are inspecting and monitoring the contractors working at the various sport centres and I impressed with the level of work I saw in some sports centers.I can assure our sport stakeholders that all our sport facilities would be ready, commissioned and use before the commencement of 2026/27 league season.

Commenting further on Agege stadium, Orimoloye disclosed that he is impressed with the level of work done so far at the Agege stadium known as Soccer Temple and assured football fans reside around Agege stadium and its environs to be ready for football actions by next season.
