Organisers are set to begin female Jagunmolu Super Cup today at the CMS Grammar School Playing Ground, Asani Street, Ilaje-Bariga, Lagos State.
The tournament which kicked off some weeks ago began with male category across six centers in the state.
Four female teams have been registered for the tournament.In a fixtures released by the organisers , Jagunmolu Queens face Coker Aguda Queens by 10am, while Flourish Queens tackle Master Project International Football Academy by noon.
The tournament is organized by Silversport Nigeria Limited, under the inspiring leadership of Prince Kolawole Oripinye, in partnership with His Royal Majesty Oba Gbolahan Akanbi Timson, Jagunmolu III of Shomolu-Bariga Kingdom.
The competition reflects a shared commitment to promoting women’s football, discovering hidden talents, and empowering young female athletes across Lagos State.
The champions will receive a cash prize of ₦100,000 and the prestigious Jagunmolu Female Super Cup Trophy, while the runners-up will receive ₦50,000 in recognition of their outstanding performance.
Speaking ahead of the tournament,Oripinye, CEO of Silversport Nigeria Limited, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for young women to showcase their football talents.
According to him, the Female Jagunmolu Super Cup is more than a competition and it is a platform for talent discovery, youth empowerment, leadership development, and the promotion of women’s participation in sports.
“Our mission has always been to create opportunities for talented players who may not have the financial means or exposure to be seen. We believe young women deserve the same opportunity to pursue their dreams through football. This tournament is another step towards building a brighter future for grassroots football in Nigeria.”he said.
His Royal Majesty Oba Gbolahan Akanbi Timson, Jagunmolu III, whose support has been instrumental in the growth of the Jagunmolu Super Cup, emphasized the importance of investing in young people through sports, describing football as a powerful tool for discipline, unity, and community development.
The Female Jagunmolu Super Cup also serves as an important platform for football scouts, coaches, clubs, and stakeholders to identify emerging talents capable of progressing to higher levels of the game within Nigeria and internationally.
Members of the public, football lovers, traditional rulers, sports administrators, youth organizations, media practitioners, and corporate partners are invited to attend and support this celebration of women’s football.
