Head coach of Ojodu City Football Club, Olawale Ogunbanjo has showered praises on his boys for playing to instructions and came out victorious against a Lagos-based semi professional club, Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club in a friendly match played on Friday afternoon at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena popularly known as Onikan Stadium.
Ojodu City who just came back home recently from Varriego football tournament in Italy defeated Eletu Boys 3-1 in an encounter played under scorching sun.
Ogunbanjo who was impressed with the team’s performance said he was able to win his opponents because his players played to instructions and commended them for their doggedness and determination showed throughout the encounter.
“It was not an easy match because Eletu boys gave us a serious fight.At a moment my boys lost concentration and they were playing us but i am happy that we were able to come out victorious after the full time,”he said.
He however described Eletu FC a compact and tactical team that play purposeful football.He noted that the victory was a morale boost for his team in preparation for NLO new season.
In his own comment, Eletu coach, Isreal Adegolu said he was not bothered about defeat saying that their loss would make his boys play better in subsequent matches.
“Infact the boys did not play to their potential and there are some key players who were not on duty because of one reason or the other.We lost this game because we were not clinical in the front of goal and also like i said my boys performed below average,”he said.
Meanwhile Okanlawon Dapo opened the goal scoring for Ojodu boys before Eletu quickly responded throug penalty kick and converted by Eletu goalie,Fossou Salas in the 38th minutes.
Rafeal Olawole scored in the early second half to make the encounter tough for Eletu boys.While Eletu were searching for equaliser, Yomi Lebi scored the third goal to seal victory for Ojodu boys.
Eletu boys pressurized their opponents, created some scary moments but poor finishing denied them from reducing or levelling the game.
