Don’t Take Lagos Ex-Internationals Cup A Do Or Die Affairs, Lagos FA Boss Urges Veterans

Chairman Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) Hajji Gafar Liameed has disclosed that the forthcoming Ex-Internationals Cup scheduled to commence across various centers in Lagos early next month is not a do or die affairs.

Liameed stated this while addressing the journalists at the recent Ex-Internationals Cup draws held in Lagos.

The Lagos FA boss urged the ex Internationals that would involve in the tournament being sponsored as Bet9ja Foundation to see the home and away knockout format competition just a friendly match not a win at all cost syndrome.

Speaking further, he said the competition is sponsored and he sees no reason why any ex international player should take it a do or die affairs noted that all the participating ex Internationals to behat would be in charge of their adopted teams are entitled to the appearance fees during the tournament and cash prize for the finalists.

He revealed that the competition is a platform for the ex Internationals to impact on the young players who want to take football as a career.

“The Ex Internationals Cup is not a do or die affairs because nobody is going to lose.It is a win win situation for all the ex Internationals who are going to handle their adopted teams.

“There is going to be an appearance fees for all the participating teams and of course the two finalists and third place position would receive a cash prize at the end of the day.Like I said before,it is a win win situation for all the teams and I wish all our veterans all the best as they are preparing for the Ex-Internationals Cup,”he said.

Meanwhile a total of 32 ex Internationals who be in touchline for their adopted teams during the tournament.

The tournament is designed in an home and away knockout format and only the 16 teams would qualify for the round of 16 at the end of the first round.
