The inaugural edition of Lagos Mini Football League would officially commence on Saturday at Keke Primary School, Agege, Lagos.
A total of 20 male teams and 10 female teams are expected to take part in the six aside competition organised by Lagos Mini Football Association and endorsed by Lagos State Football Association LSFA as well as Lagos State Sports Commission.
Speaking with journalists in Lagos,Vice Chairman of Lagos Mini Football Association, Sheriff Tajudeen has outlined the benefits of mini football league and assured that the participating teams would benefits a lot during the league matches.
One of the benefits of the mini football league according to Tajudeen is to encourage the footballers from age of 16 years above and engage them in aside football match.
He also mentioned that the mini football league would make the players to be abreast with the rules of the game and secondly it is an opportunity for young players to showcase their talents during their league matches.
Tajudeen revealed that the mini football league would also promote the trade and commerce during the league matches in Agege and its environs.
“The mini football league would last for some weeks because the league matches would play on Saturday and Sunday at the three centers in Agege.We would use this league to encourage our footballers to show interest in the game and conversant with the rules governing the game,”he said.
He explained that the mini football league is opened to either professional or amateur players saying that there is no limitations as regards to the player’s eligibility.
Tajudeen who is the Founder of Cloud Sports noted that the mini league is growing globally and has its own continental and international bodies that regulate and control the sport urging that football stakeholders to see the mini football like other sports in the country.
Meanwhile, the organisers would hold the draws on Friday afternoon at the Keke Primary School,Agege.
