A total of 16 teams would fight for the whopping sum of N3.5 million naira as prize money for the forthcoming U-15 Seamoriow Championship scheduled to commence on August at Seamoriow Sports Complex, Abaranje Road, Ikotun, Alimosho, Lagos.
Tournament coordinator, Olajide Olayinka disclosed to our correspondent that the cup donor who doubles as President of Seamoriow Football Club, Pastor Oluwaseyi Amos has graciously increased the prize money for this year’s editon.
According to Olayinka, the champions would go home with the sum of N2 million naira with a giant trophy, while second and third positions would pocket the sum of N1 million naira and N500,000 respectively.
Olayinka said this year’s editon would be big and better and congratulated the players (pupils) that would make it to the tournament a successful outing.
“On behalf of the President of Seamoriow Sports Limited,Pastor Oluwaseyi Amos and the entire local organizing committee,we want to congratulate our pupils that will participate in this year championship for a successful Academic third term session and promotional examination.
“As part of our cup donor,pastor Oluwaseyi Amos visionary agenda is to encourage and motivate the pupils through sports and education for a better tomorrow.Our prayers for them is to be a good ambassadors and leaders of tomorrow that will benefit their families, society and nations at large,” he said.
Olayinka revealed that more than 100 football academies have shown interest in the tournament but noted that only 16 teams would be considered at the end of the day.
He said added that only the teams that meet the requirements of the competition would be contacted and urged the club owners, coaches and players to play to the rules and avoid violence throughout the tournament.
“Apart from the Seamoriow Football Academy who are the current champions,the remaining 15 teams must meet our requirements before considering them for the championship.
“However we are going to be strict on our rules and regulations this year because we would not allow any unruly coach, player and club owner to bring this tournament into disrepute.If your team are considered to play this tournament, please abide by the rules governing the game,”he concluded
