I wrote prior to Nigeria’s general elections that the presidential poll must be another opportunity for Nigerians to change their destinies by voting wisely for unity, progress, and stability in Nigeria, and by doing so, they would eliminate the pains the citizens are passing through now.
I sounded a note of warning to the citizens that they must not vote for the continuation of eight years of ex-president Muhammadu Buhari, but they blocked their ears to my clarion calling by voting power again, the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This is Tinubu who we all know to be a Nigerian without any trace of his past. I could remember vividly that he dodged all avenues to be engaged in public debates during the campaign ahead of the election. He and his handlers made sure that he did not feature in any debate where some questions about his past would be asked.
By all means, Tinubu has grabbed the power and he was sworn in on May 29, 2023, while his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari left the ruin for him to continue.
Some of us who knew the antecedent of this man called Tinubu, were not, however, surprised when he came on the podium on the day of his inauguration to declare that his government wouldn’t be paying the fuel subsidy again. It was an action not least expected from a president who was voted into power as a democrat to give the people the dividends of democracy.
The multiplier effects of the sudden removal of fuel subsidy will soon begin to tell on the citizens in the next couples of days.
Tinubu has shown to Nigerians that he would be a president who will take action before he thinks of its effect on the people. Nigerians should expect more of this anti-people policy from this new government headed by Tinubu.
Tinubu’s administration is indeed a time bomb waiting to explode on Nigeria and her people sooner than later.
