Snooker and Pool Players Alliance of Nigeria (SPPA) is set to see Nigeria participate in her first Joy Heyball Masters Division One Tour which holds in Lanzhou, China from June 23 – July 3, 2023.
The alliance which promotes cue sports in Nigeria and is an affiliate of the International Heyball Pool Association (IHPA) is working in collaboration with Joy Billiards Sport Promotion, China to give talented pool players in the country a chance to compete with top-class players at the international event.
Consequently, a qualifier tournament that will produce Nigeria’s sole representative at the Asian event is scheduled to hold from June 5- 11, 2023 at NICON Estate Recreation Centre, Lekki.
Nigeria had missed previous Joy Heyball Events due to unforeseen circumstances but this particular event is a must, as the host is offering the Nigeria representative an all-expense paid trip to the Masters in China which offers some mouth-watering cash prize to the eventual winner and consolation prizes to other participants.
The President of Snooker and Pool Players Alliance of Nigeria (SPPA) Joachim Idada who made the announcement in Lagos said the vision of the alliance is gradually becoming a reality “This has been a 5 -year vision to see Nigerian players compete with their counterparts globally and we are happy it is happening now as the invitation is beginning to come from global partners “he said.
He also stated that players who wish to compete in the qualifier must have an international passport, be conversant with the IHPA rules which are on the alliance website and the winner must be ready to travel for the tournament in China.
