There is a high level lobby for the position of Secretary of Program (SOP) in Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs ) headed by former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.
The Secretary of Program is the Head of Bureaucracy at OSSAP-SDGs presently occupy by Mr Hamad Kawu, an engineer seconded from the civil service of Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The position of the Secretary of Program is like Permanent Secretary in a ministry.
Kawu, who celebrated his 59 years birthday recently, is expected to retire from the Service April 2025.
This newspaper can authoritatively report that this juicy office is currently being lobbied by 10 Directors ahead of the retirement of Mr Kawu next year.
Investigation revealed the OSSAP-SDGs, a project office under the purview of the Ministry of Humanitarian, has been a potbelly where lot of unmonitored projects are being executed. To this end, a lot of civil servants always lobbies to be posted to OSSAP-SDGs to enrich themselves .
Sources confided in this newspaper how Princess Orelope-Adefulire is rooting for the extension of service for Mr Kawu through the Head of Service of the Federation and The Presidency where the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is her political godfather.
The source revealed that Princess Orelope-Adefulire finds it comfortable to work with the SOP, Mr Kawu as the duo has allegedly done a lot of dealings together.
“I can tell you that when the Head of Service posted one Mr Bolaji Saidu, a Yoruba man, to replace the former SOP, Princess Orelope-Adefulire ensured that she never allowed Saidu to assume the position until he was frustrated out last year. We won’t be surprised if Kawu’s tenure is extend despite the fact that it is against the civil services rules. I can tell you that as OSSAP-SDGs is concerned, no respect for rules of the service in as much as the interests of some people are being protected,” the source said.
