Emmanuel Kelechi of Sterling City Football Club scored the late goal to save his team from defeat in the hands of Jossam Football Club in the second group match of the ongoing New Revolution football tournament which held on Sunday at Egan football pitch, Alimosho.
Prior to their last match, Sterling City played 2-2 with Sansan Boys in their opening match and presently they have two points in their group after Kelechi salvaged a draw for them in yesterday match.
In the encounter watched by mammoth crowd,Jossam boys gave a good account of themselves as they held their opponents to a goalless draw in the half time.
Jossam who were desperate for a win having drawn their first game outplayed their opponents in the early second half as their effort was rewarded when Kingsley Chinoso capitalised on opponents defensive error to score a goal for his team.
The goal spurred Sterling City to keep pressure on their opponents until Kelechi scored in the 88th minute to end the game in stalemate.
Reacting to the game, Sterling City Coach, Ibrahim Ezealuka expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance saying that they need to go for victory in their next match if they want to qualify for the round of 16.
Jossam Coach, Robert Eke said he was disappointed with the outcome of the match but commended his boys for their brilliant performance against their opponents.
In other results, Sansan boys defeated Egan Sunday Sunday 2-1,De Viliant also humbled Brave Stars 2-1 and Crusaders played 1-1 with Seria FC.
Action resumes on Saturday when SPS battle Heart of Lion by 2pm,IGFC take on Eid All Stars by 4pm.
Four matches would hold on Sunday as King FC face Young Stars by 10am, Sunday Stars tackle 11 Strikers by noon,St Vincent battle Vision FC by 2pm, while Egan Sunday Sunday confront defending champions, Yaweh Soul by 4pm.
