Minister John Enoh Hails Sanwo-Olu’s Sports Initiatives In Lagos

In a move signalling a new era of collaboration towards propelling Nigerian sports to new heights, the Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh commended the administration of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his swift movement and rapid development in sporting programmes and initiatives.

He made the statement while playing host to the Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, at his office in Abuja.

The Minister congratulated Fatodu on his recent appointment and commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his commitment and outstanding contributions to sports development in Lagos State. He went further to emphasise the position of Lagos as the nation’s “ powerhouse of sports,” and pledged the federal Government’s full support in collaborating with Lagos state on sports development efforts.

Fatodu expressed his gratitude to the Minister for the warm reception and shared the vision of the Governor of Lagos State Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for sports in the state, as well as the efforts of the Lagos State Sports Commission in providing a sporting ecosystem and nurturing sports athletes and talents, towards making Nigeria the sports hub of Africa.

Fatodu further went on to highlight initiatives and programmes being implemented by the Commission. The Minister was particularly impressed by the commission’s initiatives, especially the focus of Lagos STARS (Sports Talents & Athlete Redefining Success) on identifying and nurturing young talents at the grassroots level, calling it a “blueprint for replicating sporting excellence across the nation.
