A Lagos based NNL team, Smart City early today suffered a big defeat as Okaka FC humbled them 3-1 in the ongoing Lagos FA pre-season tournament which kicked off on Monday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena formally known as Onikan Stadium.
Omotayo opened the goal scoring for Smart City, but the goal was cancelled through Rilwan Olanrewaju, Stanley Nriama and Demola Ayoola who were the thorns in the flesh of their opponents throughout the encounter.
Reacting to the defeat, Smart City Coach, Abiodun Obafemi expressed satisfaction with the team’s defeat, saying that they would bounce back in their next game.
“I am not disappointed with our defeat. My boys played well but they were poor in goal scoring which I need to work on against our next matches. Of course, our defence needs to be strengthen too before our next game,” he said.
Okaka Coach, Peter Akinremi commended his players for their impressive display against their opponents and urged them to sustain the momentum.
“I must commend my players for their doggedness and fighting spirit exhibited throughout the encounter.We won the game because the players were able to play to instructions,”he said.
In other results, Tradesafe lost 2-3 to AS Racine, while Ikorodu City defeated Spartans 2-1.
