IKF Honours Governor Otu With International Sports Development Award

The International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) has announced the conferment of its International Recognition Award for Sports Development on Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, in recognition of his support for sports and the development of Kabaddi.

In a letter dated September 15, 2026, the IKF commended Governor Otu’s leadership and continued encouragement of sporting activities, particularly his support for athletes and Kabaddi development in Cross River State.

The award will be presented to the Governor during the International Delegates Meet on October 29, 2026, as part of the Kabaddi Commonwealth Championship holding in India from October 21–30.

The IKF, in its invitation signed by its President, Vinod Kumar Tiwari, expressed its hope that Governor Otu would attend the championship and personally receive the honour.

The recognition underscores the growing international engagement around Cross River’s investment in sports and the development of young sporting talents.
