Chairman Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) Olawale Liammed Gafar on Thursday was honoured with the Sportsville Special Recognition Award.
The 5th edition of the prestigious Sportsville Award was held at the Eko Club, Surulere, with many of the awardees shining like the stars.
One of the distinguished awardees who shone brightest was Hajji Gafar.
Accompanied by some members of the LSFA board, stakeholders and associates, Gafar, in his acceptance speech acknowledged the invaluable feats of the sports legends and administrators present at the event, but reserved the biggest accolades for the developers of talents at the grassroots level.
Unsurprisingly, the highly regarded football administrator, who is equally regarded for his unflinching commitment to the development of football at the grassroots level
He also went ahead to dedicate his ‘Sportsville Special Recognition Award’, to the underprivileged and unknown young football talents scattered across different parts of Lagos and Nigeria.
“This is a special one. The mirror on this plaque is reflective of the hard work being done and yet to be done in the development of talents.
“Therefore, I am deliberately dedicating this award to Stephen Adeniyis, John Ikennas, Fatimo Raheems and Isa Adams in all the divisional football parts of Lagos State and beyond. The reward for hard work is more work.
“Thank you to the organisers of this award and a big thank you to my associates and colleagues at the LSFA, Gafar concluded.
