As part of its programmes to mark International Girl Child Day, Sapphire Nigeria Women Football Supporters Club has invited eight female teams to take part in the football tournament.
International Girl Child Day would hold on 25, October,2023 which concides with football tournament.
The one day football event would hold at the Albati Barracks sports center, Surulere,Lagos.
Among the eight female clubs expected in the tournament are Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens,FC Phoenix Queens, Future Stars Ladies, CATS Ladies, Papa Soccer Angels, Ghetto Tiger Ladies, Flourish Queens and Dream Stars Ladies Academy.
President of Sapphire Nigeria Women Football Supporters Club, Jadesola Adelabu said the purpose of the tournament is to raise the profile of the child that chose football as a career.
She also explained that the tournament is to increase awareness on the importance of the girl child education irrespective of choice of career, religion and ethnicity.
Adelabu however revealed that the tournament would ignite the power in female footballers by teaching them the skills to thrive and believe in their ability to be unstoppable.
