It was a celebration galore for the students of Green House (Oduola House) as they dethroned defending champions, Red House (Adebayo House) at the just concluded 17th annual Inter House Sport Competition of Vicsum Private Schools.
The much anticipated Vicsum Private schools Inter House Sports which held on Friday in Lagos at the school premises saw parents, guardians and invited guests in attendance.
Before the commencement of the event, it was a general belief that Red House would retain its title won last year following their performance at some events already decided.
Green House had won it three times in the past and their performances in all events were commended by the parents and teachers as they gave red House and other Houses a run for their money.
At the final results, Green House got 16 Gold, 16, Silver and 12 Bronze to emerge as champions, Red House occupied second position on the table with 14 Gold, 14 Silver and 17 Bronze, Yellow House (Abisola House) remain on third position with 14 Gold, 6 Silver and 11 Bronze, while Blue House (Timirola House) are in fourth position with 13 Gold, 15, Silver and 12 Bronze as Pink House (Gbemisola House) occupied fifth position with 8 Gold, 16 Silver and 11 Bronze medals.
Commenting on this year’s Inter House Sports Competition, Propritress of the school, Chief Olusunmisola Adefuye expressed gratitude to God for the success of the competition and thanked the parents for their unwavering support given the school despite the economic challenges of the country.
She also commended the management staff for working round the clock to ensure that this year’s edition recorded a huge success and congratulated the new champions for the job well done.
Corroborating her views, Principal of Vicsum Private Schools, Mrs Agnes Agbo expressed satisfaction with the performance of all houses and disclosed that this year’s edition was better organised and improved as new sports such as High jump, Table Tennis, Basketball and Volleyball were introduced as scoring events to all houses.
In his own comment, Chairman of Parents Teachers Association of the school, Dr Olatunji Joseph Oladiran said he was quite impressed with the numbers of attendance and commended the students for their brilliant performance in their different houses.
He said the school has done well in area of sports development in the last few years and also commended the parents who came in large numbers to support their children throughout the game.
While chairman Sports Director of the school, Oluremi Oladimeji confessed that this year’s edition was quite impressive and entertaining.
He said the students had done well in their various events and congratulated the champions for the job well done.
He however advised the parents to continue encouraging their wards to involve in sporting activities during and after the school hours.
