The APC National Youth Leader, Dr. Dayo Israel, has congratulated Nigeria’s Flamingos on their historic 2–1 victory over Japan in Saturday’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final in Rabat, Morocco.
He described the triumph as a landmark achievement, making Nigeria the first African nation to win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and the first to claim FIFA U-17 World Cup titles in both male and female categories.
“The Flamingos have made Nigeria and Africa proud. This historic victory reflects the talent, resilience and determination of our young women. They have broken barriers and inspired a new generation of girls to dream big through sports,” Dr. Israel said.
He also commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) leadership for their contributions to the development of Nigerian football, urging sustained investment in grassroots and women’s sports.
“This victory must be a springboard for greater investment in youth and women’s football. Our young talents deserve the structures, support and opportunities to excel on the global stage,” he added.
Dr. Israel reaffirmed the APC Youth Wing’s commitment to promoting sports as a vehicle for youth empowerment, national unity and development.
