Coaches, Scouts, Stakeholders Hails Tonic Scouting Tournament

The one-day Tonic football scouting tournament held Wednesday at the Landmark Sports Complex, Ikorodu, has been described as a tremendous success by participants, particularly, coaches and scouts from 3SC, Sporting Lagos, Enyimba, Sunshine Stars and Stormers Sports Club. 

The tournament that featured Shigo FC, Real Diamonds FC, Tonic FC and Seaside FC, expectedly threw up some fresher, younger and exciting footballers, who were picked for trials by the different coaches and scouts, for their various teams.

Speaking at the end of the successful event, Technical Adviser of 3SC FC, Coach Nurudeen Idowu Aweroro, commended the organisers for the tournament.

“The organisers of this tournament have done an incredible job. It is a first-ever one-day football scouting tournament that affords the scouts and coaches from NPFL and NNL teams to get new and younger players to beef up the various teams. 

“I was truly impressed by the qualities of the grassroots players I saw on display at this tournament. It is a great testimonial that the future of Nigerian football is safe, ” Aweroro, who recently qualified 3SC for continental football after the 2025/2026 NPFL season. 

The Head Coach of Stormers Sporting Club, Feranmi Olanrewaju, expressed his delight at the scouting tournament, while commending the organisers for providing opportunities to the various clubs representatives to get younger and gifted talents ahead of the new football season.

According to Coach Emeka Agbarakwue, Chief Scout of Enyimba FC, it was the first time he was attending a one-day football scouting programme, even as he praised the near-flawless organisation, the pitch, the atmosphere and of course, the discipline and the top quality football displayed by the grassroots footballers. 

He added that he would be returning to his club, Enyimba FC, with good news of the discovery of talented young players that would be able to contribute positively to the ambitions of his team in the new season. 

Director of Abajmultilinks Limited, the organisers of the tournament, Abiola Sanusi, who spoke after the event, described the presence of the various clubs as heart-warming and a pointer that the ideas behind the scouting tournament was a huge success.

He added that going forward, the event would not be a one-off, as there are plans to make it better and bigger.
