All African Games: Six Nigerian Wrestlers Land In Finals, Set To Win Gold Medals

It was a glorious outing for all six Nigerian female wrestlers Sunday morning as they reached finals in women freestyle wrestling event in the ongoing All African Games taking place in Accra, Ghana.

Nigerian wrestlers were at their best in various categories as all of them were unbeaten to reach the finals.

The six Nigerian wrestlers that qualified for the finals are Mercy Genesis(50kg), Ogunsanya Christianah (53kg), Adekuoroye Odunayo (57kg), Kolawole Esther (62kg)

Others are Oborodudu Blessing (68kg) and Hannah Reuben (76kg)

The finals would come up later on Sunday by 6pm at the Borteyman Sports Complex, Accra.

Daniel Igali

President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali has expressed satisfaction with the performance of the wrestlers and thanked President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu and Bayelsa State government for their support throughout their preparation.

“It was a good outing for us because all our wrestlers are in finals. This is to tell you that we are not here for picnic but for serious business. I thank my coaching crew, wrestlers, Bayelsa and federal government for all their support to make our outings a memorable one and I believe that we would finish the job we started this evening and make Nigerians happy back home,” he said.
