As the Agege Football Coaches Council Football Competition tagged ‘Coaches Challenge Cup’ kicks off on Friday at Oniwaya High School, Agege, Lagos, organisers have warned all the 16 participating teams to abide by the rules throughout the competition or face disciplinary sanctions.
This was disclosed on Tuesday morning by chairman organising committee, Olumide Adedapo while speaking on the efforts of the organisers to make this year’s edition a memorable one.
He explained that they had sent rules and regulations forms to the teams and they all agreed to abide by the rules governing the competition saying that any team forment trouble during or after their match would be sanctioned accordingly.
“We the organisers are particularly kneen about the rules and regulations guiding the competition.Our experiences over the years in organising tournament like this showed that some teams violate the rules and scot free but this time around, it is going to be tough for erring teams because we have set up a disciplinary commiittee to deal with teams that would violate the rules and regulations either during or after their match,” he said.
Adedapo went ahead to say any act of indiscipline, unnecessary comments and insulative statement from the bench to the officials, opponents and organisers shall be seriously dealt with.
He however admonished the club owners coaches, managers, players and fans not to see this tournament as a do or die affairs and they should stay away from any social vices that can tarnish the image of the competition.
A total of 16 clubs across the state would feature in the tournament. Four teams are in each group, while the best two in each group would qualify for the quarter final stage.
Also, five centres have been approved to be used throughout the tournament.The opening match would be played between Agege United against Youthful Talent 99 FA by 3pm.
