The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressivess Congress (APC) in Osun State for the 2026 governorship election, Benjamin Kayode Adereti, has commended the leadership of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, for sustaining the institution’s tradition of academic excellence and infrastructural development.

Adereti made the commendation on Monday while attending activities marking the university’s 65th anniversary celebration.

He specifically lauded the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, for what he described as outstanding efforts in advancing the university’s academic standards and expanding its physical infrastructure.

According to Adereti, OAU has continued to rank among Nigeria’s leading institutions of higher learning due to visionary leadership, a commitment to excellence, and sustained investment in educational and infrastructural development.

The APC chieftain also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment of Adejare Bello as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council.

He said the appointment underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening tertiary education through competent and experienced leadership.

Adereti further congratulated recipients of awards and honours presented during the anniversary celebration, describing the recognitions as well-deserved acknowledgements of their contributions to the growth of the university, national development, and service to humanity.

He urged the awardees to remain exemplary ambassadors of the institution and to continue inspiring younger generations through excellence, integrity, and selfless service.
