The Ikorodu Divisional Football Association (DFA) is set to host 16 teams in the Sen. Oluremi Tinubu/APC Unity Cup 2026, with the competition scheduled to run from November 2 to November 15.
Sixteen teams will battle for honours in the Sen. Oluremi Tinubu/APC Unity Cup 2026 in Ikorodu, as grassroots football takes centre stage in a competition designed to promote talent development, sportsmanship and community engagement.
The tournament, organised by the Ikorodu Divisional Football Association (DFA), is sponsored by Hon. Tajudeen Ajide, former Chairman of Surulere Local Government, as part of a broader grassroots football initiative being staged across Lagos State.
Powered by Hon. Ajide in conjunction with Jarili Global Topworld Limited, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Lagos State Football Association, the statewide competition will feature 80 teams across the five Divisional Football Associations of Epe, Ikorodu, Ikeja, Badagry and Lagos Island, with N2 million in prize money at stake.
In Ikorodu, the competition will begin on Monday, November 2, with three opening fixtures. Shola FA will face Simario FA at 12 noon, before Brighton FA take on Yomaraz FC at 2 p.m. FC Victory and Arise & Shine FA will round off the day’s action at 4 p.m.
The first-round matches will continue on Wednesday, November 4, with Leader FA taking on Cottage FC at noon, Rebirth Sport FA facing Comfort Edge FC at 2 p.m., while Iziaq FC will meet St. Charles Athletic FC at 4 p.m.
The preliminary stage will conclude on Thursday, November 5, with Noah Ark FC facing Borussia FC at 2 p.m., followed by Edunz FC against Mighty Blaster FC at 4 p.m.
The knockout competition will then progress to the quarter-finals, scheduled for November 9 and 11, with the semi-finals taking place on Friday, November 13. The tournament will climax with the grand finale on Sunday, November 15, at 3 p.m.
Beyond the competition for the championship trophy, the Unity Cup is expected to provide a valuable platform for local football clubs and emerging talents to showcase their abilities, gain competitive experience and attract wider recognition.
The initiative also highlights the importance of sustained investment in grassroots football, with support from individuals, corporate organisations and football stakeholders playing a vital role in creating opportunities for young players.
With the theme “Unity Through Football,” the competition is expected to bring together teams, supporters and community stakeholders, reinforcing football’s role as a powerful instrument for promoting unity, discipline and social development.
