The executive members of the Photojournalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN), led by its Chairman, Bolaji Olasunkanmi, have paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Lagos head office of Moniepoint Inc. to explore areas of collaboration between the two organisations.
The delegation was received by Moniepoint’s Public and Media Relations Lead, Mr. Bemigho Awala, who described the engagement as the first visit of its kind by a media association as a collective body.
During the meeting, PJAN presented its strategic vision and proposed partnership roadmap, emphasising the need for an institutional relationship that would deliver mutual benefits to both organisations.
Speaking on the rationale behind the visit, Olasunkanmi acknowledged Moniepoint’s existing support for individual photojournalists but stressed the greater value of establishing a formal partnership with the association.
According to him, such a collaboration would provide Moniepoint with enhanced brand visibility, credible visual documentation of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, and increased public engagement through PJAN’s professional image bank and nationwide network.
He noted that PJAN, as an umbrella body representing professional photojournalists across print, online and broadcast media, possesses the expertise and reach to help organisations communicate their impact effectively through compelling visual storytelling.
Proposed Areas of Collaboration
Among the key areas of partnership presented by PJAN were the provision of official photographic coverage for Moniepoint’s corporate social responsibility and financial inclusion programmes; training and capacity-building initiatives for members in fintech reporting and business photography; joint visual campaigns promoting girl-child literacy; and support for the association’s forthcoming End-of-the-Year National Discourse.
Responding, Awala welcomed the initiative and expressed Moniepoint’s openness to exploring a sustainable working relationship with PJAN.
He explained that Moniepoint’s mission is to create financial happiness for everyone by empowering and improving the operations of small businesses. He also highlighted the company’s extensive presence across local government areas in Nigeria, describing it as a Nigerian enterprise built by Nigerians and primarily serving the Nigerian market, while also extending its services to the diaspora.
Awala emphasised the importance of visual storytelling in communicating the real-life impact of financial inclusion, noting that professional photography plays a significant role in documenting success stories and connecting organisations with their audiences.
Commitment to Further Engagement
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both parties expressing optimism about the prospects of a mutually beneficial partnership. It was agreed that a joint working team would be constituted to further examine the proposed areas of collaboration and develop a formal framework for implementation.
The courtesy visit forms part of PJAN’s broader stakeholder engagement initiative aimed at strengthening institutional relationships, promoting members’ professional development and welfare, and advancing the practice of photojournalism in Nigeria.
Through the proposed partnership, PJAN hopes to deepen the role of professional visual storytelling in promoting corporate accountability, documenting social impact, and amplifying initiatives that contribute to national development.
