Welcoming the team, the Director-General of LASRAB, Mr. Razaak Amodu underscored the importance of proper record keeping as a vital reference for the future. He noted that the Lagos State Government is advancing the digitisation of records management systems to keep pace with global best practices.

Mr. Amodu urged the students to pay close attention during the training in order to acquire skills beneficial to their institution, stressing that β€œwithout records, there will be no knowledge of the past.”

Responding on behalf of the team, the leader, Sub-Lieutenant Majesty E. Eguke expressed appreciation to the Director-General and LASRAB management for their continued support and hospitality while requesting that such on-site training opportunities be sustained annually.

According to him, the purpose of the visit is to strengthen the capacity in the management of the Nigerian Navy archives and records. The team was given guided tours of key LASRAB facilities, including the Records Centre, Reference Library, Repository, Newspaper Morgue, Model Registry, and Gallery.

An instructor with the team, Ms. Onwuka Mary Ijioma described the visit as highly impactful, noting that it exposed students to the practical application of theoretical knowledge. She commended LASRAB for maintaining high standards in records management and organisation.

The students also expressed satisfaction with the training experience and appealed for more future engagements with LASRAB.
