A serious warning has gone to teams to avoid soccer violence at the second leg of the quarter finals in the ongoing Bet9ja Ibeju-Lekki football tournament scheduled for Saturday at the Bogije football pitch, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
This was disclosed by the chairman organising committee, Victor Akinmoyo, while chatting with our correspondent recently in Lagos.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s clash, Akinmoyo said the return leg would decide teams that would progress to the semi-final and urged the coaches, players and fans to shun any social vices that can ruin the image of the competition.
“We are playing the quarter-final matches in a two-legged tie format. We played the first leg last week and the second leg holds tomorrow, so we are urging teams to abide by the rules and shun any form of vices during and after the game, “he said.
Akinmoyo, who doubles as the Leader of the Ibeju-Lekki Football Coaches Council, also commended the title sponsor, Bet9ja Betting Company, for its support and reminded them that the organisers are equal to the task to organise hitch hitch-free tournament.
Asked his assessment on the tournament so far, Akinmoyo said the tourney has brought many players to the limelight and showered praises on the members of the organising committee for the job well done.
“I must confess that Bet9ja Ibeju-Lekki Cup has lived up to expectations in the area of organisation, standard of play by teams and officiating. I also commend the media for their superb coverage and I won’t forget to salute our fans for their comportment and understanding throughout the competition,” he said.
