Coach of Lekki United Football Club,Yakub Taofeek has expressed shock after his boys played 2-2 with Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club in a friendly match which held on Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena popularly known as Onikan Stadium
Prior to this match, Eletu boys lost 1-0 to Franceex United at Maracana Stadium, Ajegunle.
Taofeek, while chatting with our correspondent said his plan was to defeat his opponents and he was disappointed to see Eletu got its equaliser in the second half.
“It was not too impressive match for me because I came to Onikan Stadium to beat Eletu boys unfortunately they were lucky to force us to play draw,”he said.
Taofeek however commended his boys for their good display and also praised his opponents for their brilliant performance during the encounter.
While Eletu Coach, Isreal Adegolu saluted his boys for showing resilience and tactical play against their opponents but frowned how they missed some scoring chances that would have given them the victory.
“My boys were better and showed character today (Saturday) compare to our last game.In fairness to them, they played above average but they still need to improve in their goal scoring.The work has not finished yet and I still need to work on their goal scoring before our next game,”he said.
Essien Saviour quickly converted penalty kick when a foul was committed in the box eighteen in 7th minutes to give Lekki United early lead.
The goal spurred Eletu boys to increase the tempo of the game and they got their equaliser through Precious Ogunseye.
It was not too long, Eletu scored, Savior scored at the close range for Lekki United as halftime ended 2-1 in favour of Eletu opponents.
In the second half, some tactical changes were made by both teams, but Eletu’s effort to get equaliser was rewarded in 58th minutes when Favour Daniel converted a penalty kick to save Eletu from the defeat.
