There are strong indications that the Director General, National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade did not authorised the letter rejecting the resignation of Mr Paul Maduakor as President, Nigeria Amputee Football Federation.
It would be recalled that Maduakor has tendered his resignation letter to the NSC through the Director, NSFPS ,Mrs Thecia Opara on 5th November, 2024.
The NSC,through the Director, NSFPS had written and signed a letter on behalf of the DG, NSC rejecting the resignation dated 27th November, 2024 which read in part “NSC was in shock and disbelief about your intention to resign.NSC is worried that it is coming at the moment of transition where the sport Federation is coming to life as a result of the passion you have for the sport and the zeal to develop it to a greater height”.
It also added,”consequently ,NSC did not accept your resignation as the President. Your valuable contribution is highly needed at this moment of transformation “.
It was scooped that the DG, according to the source close to him, was not in the know of the letter signed on his behalf by Opara.
The source said: “the DG has not authorised the letter rejecting his or any resignation letter because he is just settling down in to office and has not been properly briefed of happenings in Paralympic Committee Nigeria (PCN) and its Federation.
“How can a letter be written and signed without getting the approval of the DG? I want to say that those who wrote this letter have forgotten that the policy direction and mindset of the Commission is not like when sports was operational under a Ministry,” the source said.
