Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai has commended the leadership of Ibeju-Lekki Football Coaches Council led by Victor Akinmoyo for their commitment and readiness to kick off Ibeju-Lekki Football League.
The much anticipated Ibeju-Lekki football league would commence on 4, November, 2023 across the twelve designated centres.
A total of 16 teams would battle for honours in the next few days as organisers promised participating teams fair officiating.
In his address at the seminar/draws of Ibeju-Lekki Football League held at the Lakowe Townhall, Rufai said the league would not only promote healthy rivalry among the grassroots clubs in Ibeju-Lekki and its environs but would also bring the grassroots footballers to the limelight.
He charged the players to give their best throughout the league matches and stay away from soccer hooliganism and violence.
“This is good initiative and i must commend the organisers for this initiative.This is where we can get talents and i believe that the league would produce future players for the country.The players should use this league to give account of themselves and shun vices that can ruin their careers,” he said.
Secretary of Lagos State Football Coaches Association, Rasheed Sulaiman expressed satisfaction with the league saying that the association would support the league and charged the participating teams to abide by the rules governing the league.
Some of the coaches, club owners and other football stakeholders commended the league management commiittee for the intiative and called the corporate bodies that situated in Ibeju-Lekki and its environs to support the league with thei financial resources.
