The joy of athletes in the camp of Team Lagos knows no bound Saturday morning when officials came in to distribute the package meant for their participation in the National Youth Games courtesy of the sports loving governor of the state, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Sanwo-Olu, through the Lagos State Sports Commission, has made available packaged kits to all the athletes participating in the colours of Lagos State at the 7th National Youth Games which ends today in Asaba, Delta State.
Independent News Express understands that the kits which contain various items such as canvas, school bags, water bottles, track suit with hoodies, traveling bags and 24 excise notebooks are delivered to the athletes amid jubilation early on Saturday at their camp situated at Dennis Osadebay University in Asaba.
The governor is recognising their patriotic act to the state while competing at the National Youth Games which has produced different sets of medals.
As at last night, Team Lagos are sitting on second position on the medal table of the games.
Governor Sanwo-Olu had on Wednesday written an encouraging message on his social media handles to appreciate all the athletes and their officials.
The management of the Lagos State Sports Commission is equally feeling proud of the athletes as it plans to host them to a victory party Saturday evening at their camp.
The athletes said they could not thank Mr Governor enough, as a father indeed, whose love for the athletes knows no bound.
