Nigeria’s former quarter miler Princess Mabel Madojiemu has been nominated into the board of Edo State Sports Commission.
In a statement signed by the Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission, Mr. Yusuf Alli said Princess Madojiemu alongside others would be inaugurated by the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki at the Government House on 27 April 2023
In his congratulatry message, Alli said Princess Madojiemu’s nomination primarily hinged on her exemplary contributions to sports and particularly youth athIetics development in the state, adding that with her nomination, Princess Madojiemu is expected to contribute more to sports development in the state.
In her acceptance speech, Princess Madojiemu thanked Mr Alli for the nomination and appealed to the Executive Commission Chairman to further extend the nomination to a former athlete, Friday Enoyo who had also contributed hugely to sports in the state.
“As I accept this nomination, I promise to assist in making youth and sports development an enviable career in the state and beyond,” she said.
Meanwhile Princess Madojiemu has made huge contributions by providing Competitions for the Under-15 Athletes in Delta and Edo States for two years.
Plans are rife to extend the competition to states in the South-South region of Nigeria
