Chief Executive Officer of Buruj Sports Academy, Salaudeen Waheed has given reasons why his team would take part in the forthcoming Lagos pre season tournament scheduled to kick off on 18 September at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena formally known as Onikan Stadium.
Waheed said the Lagos pre season tournament is a platform that would help him and the coaching crew assess the fitness of his young players and also expose them to new challenge.
“We are not coming to Lagos pre-season tournament to win the trophy at all costs, but I want to give my players an ample opportunity to showcase their talents and also to compete with other NLO and NNL teams when the tournament kicks off.
“It is going to be a new challenge to them and difficult terrain because most of our players are very young which I believe a competition of this magnitude would bring the best out of them,”he said.
On the team’s preparedness, Waheed said the coaching crew are working round the clock to keep the players fit ahead of the tournament. He said some friendly matches would be played as part of preparation for the pre season tournament.
Asked if his team can win the tournament, Waheed disclosed that every team wants to win but his primary assignment is to ensure that the players get necessary exposure before the commencement of the nationwide league one, NLO.
Meanwhile the draw ceremony for the tournament would hold on Friday by 2pm at the LSFA secretariat conference room.
