Sharp Strikers Football Academy have qualified for the final of U-15 Prince Gas Cup through protest.
Sharp Strikers lost 0-3 to Samba Tornadoes in the semi final played recently at the proposed palace playground, Igando, Alimosho, Lagos.
After the pulsating tie, the management of Sharp Strikers had filed a protest letter that their opponents paraded ineligible players which is against the rules and regulations of the competition.
Match coordinator, Prince Sulaiman Gbadamosi confirmed that Sharp Strikers filed a protest letter and having looked into their complain, it was found out that their opponents used players who are overweight the official weight.
“We officially received Sharp Strikers protest letter and the committee quickly swung into action and it was observed that their opponents paraded overweight players.On this note, Sharp strikers won the protest because truly their opponents used overweight players so Sharp Strikers are now in final instead of Samba Tornadoes FC that won the game initially.
“However this is not the first protest in the competition, Royal Warriors FC protested against Akins FC in the group stage before and they won it too,”he said.
Gbadamosi admonished the participants to adhere with the rules and regulations guiding the competition noted that the era of age cheat or parading ineligible players in his competition are over.
In the second semi final, Seedorf defeated Igando boys 2-1 to set up a final against Sharp Strikers.
