The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) under the leadership of Dr Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the regulatory body, is leaving nothing to chance to ensure that the telecommunications sector of the Nigerian economy is measured favourably with counterparts across the world.

The CEO, in his wisdom, has been able to secure partnerships and facilitate cooperation with countries around the world.

One such nation is Sweden, a Scandinavian country in Europe.

On Monday, Dr. Maida received in courtesy visit in his office in Abuja the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency, Annika Hahn-Englund.

Independent News Express reports that the Embassy in Abuja represents the Swedish Government in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and the ECOWAS.

During the visit, Dr Maida and the Swedish Ambassador discussed ongoing areas of partnership between the Commission and Sweden, especially capacity building and skills development.

Dr. Maida used the opportunity of Ambassador Hahn-Englund’s visit to highlight that the Knowledge Pillar of the Honourable Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani’s Strategic Blueprint for the industry was bolstered through opportunities for staff of the Commission to exchange best practices from their Swedish counterparts.

However, H.E. Hahn-Englund reiterated the Swedish Embassy’s unflinching commitment to boost existing relationships, adding that both Nigeria and Sweden have a lot to gain in their diplomatic and economic relationships.
