Head Coach of Beyond Limits, Olumide Ajibolade said he was not worried or felt disappointed following 4-5 penalty shootouts defeat against Ikorodu City Football Club in the final of the Lagos Supremacy Cup which was held on Thursday morning at the FIFA legacy pitch of National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The tension soaked match ended 2-2 at the regulation time before it went into penalty shootouts.
Although, the defending Champions gave in their everything to win the match as Muhammed Abudllahi header at the last minute gave Beyond Limits needed equaliser to drag the encounter into penalties.
Reacting to the defeat, Ajibolade said he was not disappointed with the defeat through penalties and commended his boys for their impressive performance during the encounter watched by appreciable fans and more than ten foreign scouts as well as football administrators in the state.
“It was not a disappointing outing for us. The most important thing is the development of the players which I am concerned about.
“We came to this tournament with the new set of players and we played better and faced NPFL league side in the final, so there is no ill-feeling about our defeat rather than to congratulate my boys for their good performance,”he said.
Ikorodu City Coach, Franklin Akinbule also showered praises on his boys during the shootouts. He admitted that their opponents gave them a run for their money during the highly entertaining match.
Meanwhile, 36 Lion humbled Tripple 44 from Ibadan 4-1 to win a third place match.
A total of eight teams involved in the tournament which kicked off four days ago.
