The Asisat Oshoala Academy (AOA) has announced the successful conclusion of its highly anticipated scouting trials held from February 5 to 9.
Across the three days, an impressive turnout of 300 young, aspiring female footballers from Lagos and the Southwest region seized the opportunity to showcase their skills and vie for a spot on the coveted academy team.
The Femi Gbajabiamila Mini-stadium in Abalti Barracks, Ojuelegba, buzzed with enthusiasm as talented individuals gave their all during the trials. Coach Alabi Kazeem, the astute leader of the academy, expressed immense delight at the high quality displayed by the participating girls. He remarked, “We witnessed exceptional talent and determination during these trials. It’s heartening to see the passion these young athletes bring to the pitch.”
However, in line with the academy’s commitment to holistic development, some very talented girls were regrettably dropped due to concerns regarding attitude and character. Coach Alabi Kazeem emphasized, “Attitude and character are paramount qualities we seek at AOA. While skill is vital, we are building not just football players but role models for the future.”
Asisat Oshoala, Founder of AOA, extended gratitude to all the participants, saying, “It’s inspiring to see the dedication and talent displayed over these three days. AOA aims not only to foster football skills but also to nurture character and discipline. We are excited about the potential we witnessed and look forward to the next phase of this incredible journey.”
The academy will now enter a meticulous evaluation process to select the final talents who will join the Asisat Oshoala Academy team.
Founded in 2021 by Asisat Oshoala MON, AOA is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of female football stars, providing opportunities for skill development, education, and empowerment in partnership with Nike and Women Win.
