The international President of the Standup for Women Society, Barr. Deborah Ijadele-Adetona has sympathized with the family of Liberator Aisha Musa Maina, the SWS Sokoto Deputy Chairperson who doubles as Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s aide on Female Education Board on her death.
Aisha, according to report, was rescued from the stampede during the PDP Atiku-Okowa Campaign Rally in Sokoto on the 31st of January 2023 and rushed to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital for treatment but died shortly after.
“It is a sad moment and a big loss for the SWS family, though we want women’s participation in politics, we equally want adequate security for them. The death of Liberator Aisha has further opened our eyes that the security of life is still a challenge in our Nigeria politics, we therefore, call on the federal and state governments to ensure the security of Nigerians especially women now, during and after elections to avoid the sudden death of people with good intention to build a better nation for all.
Our sister, friend, mother, colleague, and Liberator, Aisha is dead due to an uncontrolled crowd” she added.
According to the press statement released to journalists by the National Public Relations Officer (PRO), Lib. Billie Nwogu, the international president of the SWS described Aisha’s death as a big loss to the entire family, colleagues, government and to the associations she belongs.
She prayed to God to give the husband, children, and loved ones fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and repose the soul of Aisha in peace.
SWS also used the medium to commiserate with the family of others who died in the same stampede and pray to God to rest their souls peacefully.
The SWS will sorely miss her immeasurable contributions and advice towards the furtherance of society, and the empowerment of women, especially in Sokoto where she was appointed an aide to the Governor.
