Southwest Zonal Eliminations: Lagos Youth Commissioner In Ibadan To Cheer Up Victorious Team Lagos

The visit of the Lagos State Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende to the camp of Team Lagos in the ongoing Southwest Zonal Eliminations for the Gateway Games 2025 National Sports Festival was another moment to spice up the athletes to victories in the various outings on Wednesday.

The Commissioner, avid lovers of the youth was so ecstatic by the show of strength in the athletes.

He said after watching one of the football matches played and he wrote on his official Facebook page that “This morning, I attended the second day of the 2025 Southwest Zonal Elimination for the National Sports Festival at Liberty Stadium in Ibadan alongside Mr. Lekan Fatodu, Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, and Mr. Yusuf Akolade Lawal, Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Football Association.

“The atmosphere was electric as I cheered on our Lagos State athletes competing against Osun State. I am extremely confident in their abilities and sportsmanship, and I believe their “can-do” spirit will propel them to success. I wish them all the best in the upcoming competitions.”

In the football match decided today, Team Lagos male team spanked Team Ondo 1-0, while the girls from Lagos were defeated by Team Osun 1-2.

Meanwhile, Lagos will play against Oyo in their quest to secure the ticket for the sports festival.

In other Day Two results, Lagos’ female hockey team beat Team Osun. 3-1, while the male team lost 0-1 to Team Oyo
