Senator Umeh Canvasses Support For Emeka Anyaoku Mini Stadium

Senator Victor Umeh who is representing Anambra in the House Of Senate has canvassed for support for the completion of proposed Emeka Anyaoku Mini Stadium in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Umeh disclosed this at the final of U-16 Annual edition of Inter State Emeka Anyaoku Cup which held on Sunday at the Union Bank playground, Surulere, Lagos.

Former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola gave National Youth Soccer Association two plots of land to build mini stadium in the name of former secretary General of Commonwealth Nations, Chief Emeka Anyaoku.

While delivering his speech at the grandfinale, Senator Umeh thanked the Lagos State Government for honouring Chief Anyaoku and called well meaning Nigerians to support the completion of the stadium.

“Let me first and foremost congratulate Chief Emeka Anyaoku for the the success of this youth competition being name after him.And secondly I am happy that the Lagos State Government has allocated land for the Emeka Anyaoku Mini stadium somewhere in Ikorodu.

I think it is good initiative and we need to organize fundraising to achieve the completion of the stadium and I am using this medium to call the friends and relations of the Chief Anyaoku as well as well as well meaning Nigerians to support this initiative.

Umeh who commended the finalists for the good display and excellent performance had personally donated a sum on N1 million naira to support mini stadium project and congratulated the winners for the job well done.

Also Speaking, Anyaoku expressed satisfaction with the organisation and standard of play by the finalists in this year’s edition and emphasized the need for the youth for collaboration in their footballing careers.

He noted that football itself involves collaboration and cooperation of players on the field of play saying that for Nigeria to achieve its greatness, there is strong need for collaboration and corporation among the citizens.

Meanwhile Samadeck FC of Lagos defeated Alatishe FC of Ondo 2-0 in the final watched by appreciable crowd.

At the cup presentation, Chief Anyaoku presented merit award to Senator Umeh and Barrister Mike Ozokhome for their commitment to the national development.
