Pumah Football Academy of Surulere are the first team that qualified for the quarter final of the ongoing Seamoriow U-15 League Championship taking place at the Seamoriow Sports Complex, Ikotun, Abaranje Road, Alimosho, Lagos
Pumah, who won their opening group match hammered Future Stars 99 4-1 on Thursday afternoon to book a place in the quarter final stage.
Coaching of Pumah Academy, Timilehin Hammed expressed his delight that his boys booked a place in the quarter final stage but noted that his team are not a favourite to win the tournament.
He confessed that there are many teams who are equally a good side in the championship and charged his boys to remain focused in their next game.
“We are still unbeaten run and it does not mean we are the best team in the tournament.We have other teams that are equally good and coordinated so we want to take the game one after the other,”he said.
Asked if his team can reach the final stage despite their unbeaten record, Hammed insisted that his team are not tournament favourite but warned other teams to beware of Pumah Academy.
Austenplus Academy who earlier lost their opening match suffered another defeat against North York 4-0 today.This defeat has confirmed the early exit of Austenplus from the championship.
Seamoriow FA who earlier drew their opening match shocked Sammy FA 5-1 to keep their qualification alive, as African Future Stars played 4-4 with Super ACC.
Four matches will be played on Friday which is Day Four of the championship.
