SBS Academy Begin New Year With 1-0 Victory Over Its Opponents

SBS Football Academy of Agege kicked off its activities in the New Year with 1-0 victory over Fawaz/Mayaki & Friends football team in a novelty match held last Friday at the Oniwaya High School, Agege, Lagos.

The novelty match was put together by the chairman SBS Football Academy,Alhaji Shugaba Mohammed Bello to honour Abdulahi Fawaz and Lookman Aliu popularly known as Mayaki who are plying their trade in Belarusian football league.

The duo were products of SBS Football Academy before they moved to Europe for professional football.

Solomon Oluwafemi goal in the first half was SBS boys needed to shock star studded Fawaz/Mayaki & friends football team who gave everything to the pulsating tie.

Speaking after the match, SBS Coach,Femi Ayeni expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance saying that his boys were determined to win the game.

“It was a good start for a new year and my boys really played very well.They were determined and focused throughout the encounter and I am happy that we got the needed victory over our opponents,”he said.

In his own comment, Fawaz/Mayaki and friends coach,Ojo Azeez said his boys played well but they were not clinical in the front of goal.

He noted that the team were not coordinated enough on the field of play which cost them the defeat.

“I congratulate our opponents for the hard fough victory against us.It was a tactical and entertaining match but unfortunately we lost narrowly at the end of the game,”he said.

SBS founder,Shugaba Mohammed Bello expressed gratitude to God for the success of the novelty match and commended both teams for their impressive performance.

He explained that SBS Football Academy was formed last year February in Lagos and he is satisfied with the progress and achievements of the academy in the last one year.
