As the Run For Asiwaju 2027 Mini Marathon is drawing nearer, no fewer than 800 runners have registered for the much-anticipated sporting event in Agege, Lagos.
The much anticipated Run For Asiwaju Mini Marathon would hold on Sunday by 8am as Agege council secretariat would be a starting point and ends at the Orile-Agege LCDA.
Speaking ahead of Sunday marathon powered by Lagos State Speaker, Honourable Mudashiru Obasa, chairman Orile-Agege Sport Committee,Dipo Liadi confirmed that over 800 runners both young and adults have completed their registration forms and showed readiness for the event.
“Presently I can confirm to you that more than 800 interested runners in men and women categories have registered for the event.I am happy with the numbers of the participants and by Friday,we would achieve our target numbers,”he said.
Run For Asiwaju Mini Marathon is in collaboration between Agege and Orile-Agege councils.The organisers are targeting 1,000 runners.A sum of N10,000 and running kits would be given to the participants that would run the marathon race on Sunday morning.
The Orile-Agege Sport Committee received a royal blessings from the Alaige of Orile-Agege,Oba Ambaliyu Agbedeyi on Thursday morning after they paid courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty.
The Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Honourable Mudashiru Obasa has fully endorsed the marathon race and promised to be part of marathon race comes on Sunday morning.
Meanwhile Chairman Orile-Agege Council boss,Hon Akinola Idowu recently commended the Orile-Agege Council Sports Committee led by Dipo Liadi for their commitment and dedication towards the Run For Asiwaju Mini marathon.
He disclosed that the marathon race was designed as a way of galvanising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his second term.
He also urged the committee members to continue the good work and promised that two councils in Agege would provide necessary support to make the marathon a memorable one.
