Rose Women Football Academy, tutored by coach Emmanuel Osahon, has emerged champions of the 3rd edition of the Vault of Hope Foundation, sponsored by former Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chioma Ajagba.
The one-day football tournament with the theme ‘Giving back to my roots’ had four women football teams registered for the competition which was played at the Bishop Crowther Memorial School, Bariga, Lagos.
A total of four Lagos-based women’s clubs: Supreme God House Football Club of Agege, Flourish Football Club of Alimosho, Rose Football Academy of Mushin and Rise Sporting Club of Oniwaya, Agege.
In the grand finale played in Bariga, Rose FA of Mushin defeated Rise Sporting FC of Oniwaya, Agege 1-0 to clinch the title of the tournament in its third edition.
For winning the tournament, Rose Football Academy got a cash prize of N150,000.
For emerging second placed, Rise Sporting Football Academy went home with a cash prize of N100,000, while Supreme House of God Fc got a cash prize of N50,000 as the third placed winners.
Flourish Football Club of Alimosho, emerged the fourth placed team and they went home with a consolation cash prize of N25,000.
Six outstanding players were rewarded with individual awards, with four of them voted as Most Valuable Players of the tournament. The MVP winners include: Success Odey of Rise Sporting Fc, Tosin Rafiu of Rose FA and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi of Rose FA .
While Mariam Yahaya of Rose FA was voted the tournament Highest Goal Scorer.
Ifeoluwa Olufemi of Rose FA was voted the tournament Best Goalkeeper. And Rodiat Busari of Supreme House of God FC was voted the Best Defender.
The sponsor of the tournament aimed to give back to the society that produced her, Chioma Ajagba, was present at the tournament venue to present the prize monies to the teams and gifts to the players. She was joined by two former Super Falcons stars; Vera Okolo and Precious Dede.
The former Super Falcons star promised to continue sponsorsing the football tournament, as she takes delight in giving back to her roots in Bariga, Lagos.
